Fox Searchlight Releasing ‘Whip It!’

Finally, we've gotten confirmation that the long-anticipated Drew Barrymore movie Whip It! is going to be released on October 9th, 2009.

The movie stars Ellen Page (One of my favorite actresses.  Loved her in Juno.) as a beauty-queen-turned-derby-girl.  (That should go over well.)

Drew Barrymore also plays a rollergirl, Smashley Simpson, as does Juliette Lewis (Dinah Might), Kristen Wiig (Malice in Wonderland), Zoe Bell (Bloody Holly), and Eve (Rosa Sparks).  L.A. Derby Doll Maggie Mayhem (who also wrote the book Derby Girl that the movie is based on) is reportedly in the movie, as are Grand Raggidy rollergirls Jackie Daniels, Dot Matrix, Tamara Hurtsworse, The Vindicator, and Shutter Speed.

That's ok.  They might be movie stars, but we still beat them in February, and we're going to beat them again May 30th on our turf!

Enough of the smack talk, I must say that I'm very excited to see this movie.  I love Drew Barrymore, I lovelove Ellen Page, and I lovelovelovelovelove roller derby.
