Upcoming Cincinnati Rollergirls Events

Hey all! We have a very, very busy week leading up to our final home bout of the year! First, from Monday, June 15th to Friday, June 18th, we'll be at Hoxworth Blood Centers from 2 pm to 4 pm. Give Blood, Play Roller Derby!

Here are the dates and locations:

Monday, June 15th at Mason (9554 S. Mason Montgomery Road)
Tuesday, June 16th at Western Hills (2041 Anderson Ferry Road)
Wednesday, June 17th at Ft. Mitchell (2220 Grandview Drive)
Thursday, June 18th at Anderson (7715 Five Mile Road)
Friday, June 19th at Hoxworth Central (3130 Highland Avenue)

Also, if you donate blood at any Hoxworth Blood Center at any time within the week, you will be automatically entered to win a family season pass (4 passes) to Kings Island. It's a win-win... win-win-win!

Also, if you feel like headin' out to the bar on Wednesday for some hump-day partying, why don't you go to Northside Tavern and listen to the Rollergirl Monologues? Sk8 Crime, The Librarian, and GlamourAzz will be there, telling tales of ye olde roller derbye. <--- heh.  Then, a local improv troop will act out their stories. It's worth going just to see how these poor improv actors will react!

And... the pièce de résistance... the long-awaited bout between Colombus' Ohio Roller Girls and the Cincinnati Rollergirls. Never before have these two teams met *at the Cincinnati Gardens*, and this promises to be a nail-bitingly good time. Both OHRG teams won yesterday (Saturday) at the Naptown Roller Girls, can they win two in a row?

I think not.

The event is another double-header featuring both Cincinnati and Ohio’s A and B (varsity and junior varsity) teams. At 7 p.m., Cincinnati’s B team, the Silent Lambs, will take on Ohio’s Gang Green. In the main event immediately following, Cincinnati’s Black Sheep – currently ranked 4th in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s North Central Region with a 4-1 record this season – will battle Ohio’s all-stars, who are currently ranked 13th in the region with a 3-2 record.

P&G Movie Night

Hey all! It was an awesome night at the movie night down on Fountain Square. We watched Jurassic Park (rawr!) and spent the night taping down our stuff so it wouldn't blow away. Stupid cold front!

It was also evidently prom night. It was more than a little weird to see teenagers in gowns and tuxes, rollergirls selling beer, and homeless people hanging out together. Gotta love the city!

Painway out.

Upcoming Cincinnati Rollergirls Meet-and-Greets!

Don't say I never give you warning...

Come on down to the P&G Movie Night down on Fountain Square this Saturday (tomorrow) at 7 p.m. and watch Jurassic Park with the rollergirls! Rawr! We'll be selling concessions and staffing our own table full of goodies! I'll be there, come say hi. Or else. Grrr...

Then, on Monday, head on down to the Fitworks in Florence, KY and catch a class with the rollergirls. We'll be there for a class at 6:30, and we'll hang around until about 8:30 chattin' ya up and giving out more goodies! What's that, Lassie? Free shit? Yay!

If you miss these opportunities to hang with the most awesome biotches in town, not to worry. We'll be at future movie nights and will possibly pop up at a Fitworks near you. (Don't hold me to that, though.)

Painway out.

What the ^&@(^&!

OK, so the whole "structured" approach ain't workin' for me.  One day I might get to the skate-buying thing, but right now, I'm not into it.  Hence, it's not getting written.

Moving along...
Monday was the Reds Opening Day parade in downtown Cincinnati.  It was very interesting, my first time skating on city streets.  On top of it all it was raining and just slightly above freezing.  That was lovely.  I also didn't bring any safety gear.  I'm pretty lucky I didn't fall during the parade (I waited until it was all said and done before falling while goofing off on the sidewalk).  In fact, I don't think anyone fell during the parade, but then again, I was the only rookie on skates.  All my fellow skaters were those awesome chicks that can do pirouettes and stop on one toe stop.  They were hopping over pot holes like they were nothing.
I'm definitely hurting today.  Practice was OK, I lost some time during the time trials due to my aching shins, but I didn't trip myself up or anything, so that's good.  I'm a little bummed that I only got to go in to scrimmage once; I know that the team is gearing up for the next bout (I'm not on the roster), but I know that I won't get any better until I can get in there and really work on some things.  I really want to hit some people hard and to get hit hard.
I'm rambling.  That's what happens at 12 a.m.
